Big Data and Ethnography: personal data in an uncertain world (Spanish)

In the Big Data phenomenon, the practices of its production, analysis and representation seem, at first sight, very far and even incompatible with ethnographic techniques. However, growing interest in Big Data demonstrated by organizations, companies, politicians, and the very universities in which we work gives us an opportunity for ethnographers. Experience in the practice of digital and sensory ethnography allows us to understand what it is and what it means to live surrounded by Big Data and Small Data. How is the experience of living with data? What emotional and sensory sensations are we experiencing when interacting with our personal data? What will be our future relationship with Data? Pink invites us to ask these questions from the case of data ethnographies.

We investigate how people experience the digital in everyday life, By researching from the ground up we bring fresh insight to a constantly changing world. The Digital Ethnography Research Centre DERC focuses on understanding a contemporary world where digital and mobile technologies are increasingly inextricable from the environments and relationships in which everyday life plays out. DERC excels in both academic scholarship and in our applied work with external partners from industry and other sectors.
