Alexia Cameron

Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Alexia practices independent sociology. Her work situates affect within realms of immaterial labour, work, and production. She focuses on ecosystems of feeling that feed cultural capitalism yet exist irrespectively of it, forming affective architectures that house atmospheres, personhood, and economies of desire. Since the publication of her first book in 2018, Affected Labour in a Café Culture, Alexia has produced a range of works that critically consider the play of desire and sensibility in labour/production/consumption settings. She is presently a Research Fellow on an ARC funded Vital Arts linkage project: Creative Industries Pathways To Youth Employment In The COVID-19 Recession.
