Dennis John F. Sumaylo is a PhD candidate in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. His research interest is in disaster and health communication, focusing on engaging communities living in spatial isolation experiencing socio-economic inequalities. By examining the narratives of isolated and marginalised communities, he hopes to design multimodal learning tools that people can use to access information.

His interests extend into photography and soundscapes and mounts participatory multi-sensorial exhibits. He holds a master’s degree in Development Communication and a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts specialising in Speech Communication minor in Theatre from the University of the Philippines.
