Caitlin McGrane is a researcher and feminist activist. As a researcher, she is a PhD candidate in the Digital Ethnography Research Centre at RMIT University. Her doctoral research investigates the gendered uses, practices and impacts of geomedia. During her Masters, she researched how witnessing anti-feminist harassment can affect individuals’ willingness to participate in online spaces and their willingness to publicly identify as feminist. As an activist, she leads Gender Equity Victoria’s Online Active Bystander project, helping challenge gendered harassment and abuse online by encouraging bystanders to take an active role on social media.
