Khiem Le is currently a higher degree by research student in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT. His background in is creative advertising and he has obtained a Masters degree in advertising at the University of Texas (Austin, USA) in 2014. His PhD research is interested in the examination of fan-lebrity, particularly in relation to K-pop fandom and their consumption of K-pop. An example from his research includes the K-pop dance cover members and their rising popularity among other fans. These dance cover members are not just passively listen to K-pop but are able to utilize their consumption and transform themselves into demi-idols in their own right.
